As the 2026 WNBA season is now underway, there are plenty of exciting storylines and players to discuss. One of the brightest and biggest stars just entering the league for the first time is Olivia Miles.

Miles was drafted second overall by the Minnesota Lynx. She played the majority of her collegiate career at Notre Dame but then finished out her last year at Texas Christian University. She averaged 15.6 points per game (PPG) and 6.4 rebounds per game (RPG) throughout her collegiate career.

Since joining the Lynx, Miles was a starter from the beginning. In her debut game, she played 34 minutes and recorded 21 points. The young guard showed up and showed out in her first game, and she hasn’t stopped since.

Miles is averaging 31 minutes per game so far this season, which is impressive for a rookie to be playing in well over half of a game. Her lowest minutes total was recorded on May 21, when she only played 23 minutes, but she still put up 14 points within the minutes limit. The game prior, on May 17, is where Miles recorded her most minutes thus far, with 35.

Ironically enough, she put up the least amount of points in this game, with only 13.

On June 4, Miles played 28 minutes and recorded 28 points, making her a point per minute player in this game. She also had recorded eight three-pointers on 11 shots, earning her a 72.7% 3 point field goal percentage (3P%). This was an extra special feat, as Miles broke Caitlin Clark’s rookie record for 3-pointers. That’s a strong testament alone to Miles’ incredible talent.

In the Lynx’s last game on June 13, Miles broke her points record, recording 29 points in 34 games. The WNBA season is just over a month in, and Miles is already setting and breaking records every other game it seems.

The Lynx is full of strong talent, including Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride. They are currently missing Napheesa Collier from their lineup, as she had to undergo ankle surgery back in March. The plan is for her to return to the court sometime in June, pending her healing and recovery process is smooth. Collier is an absolute beast on the court and the Lynx will be even more dominant when they get her back. Collier plays forward and Miles is a guard, so adding Collier to the starting five with Miles will be a lethal combination on the court.

Miles came onto the Lynx with a determined mindset of winning. The numbers and the standings speak for themselves with Minnesota sitting just below the Las Vegas Aces in the standings in second place. Both teams have the same number of wins and losses, 10 wins, three losses. Miles has already gone head-to-head against the reigning champions on June 13, where the Aces ended the Lynx’s eight game winning streak. However, it was a close matchup, with the Aces winning by three points.

Miles is proving herself with each game and finding her confidence on the WNBA court. Her consistent strong performance and go ahead attitude makes her a great teammate and player. Miles’ performance each game, with the consistent points production and minutes played will undoubtedly earn her rookie of the year.
