The 2026 WNBA season is now in full swing. Each team has played at least five games and there are plenty of storylines to highlight throughout the past week.

Indiana Fever Are on a Tear

Even though the Indiana Fever aren’t on top of the leaderboard at the moment, they are close behind. The Atlanta Dream are currently in first place with four wins and one loss. The Fever are hot on their heels with four wins and two losses.

The Fever have a healthy Caitlin Clark this season and she is a force to be reckoned with. She didn’t get to play many games last season, and she is back with a vengeance. Clark is currently averaging 23.8 points per game, the third highest of any player in the WNBA thus far this season. She also leads not just her team, but the entire league in assists, averaging nine per game.

Clark has already been strong to start the season, there’s no telling how else she’ll rock the season.

Azzi Fudd is Finding Her Footing

First overall draft pick, Azzi Fudd, has played in five of the Wings’ seven games to start this season. She has been coming in off the bench, and now in Dallas’ last game against the New York Liberty, Fudd has made a huge impact.

At the half, the Liberty had a one point lead over Dallas. In the second half, the Wings came back to take a commanding 91-76 win. A large part of it was contributed to Fudd. She had 24 points, the most of her WNBA career thus far. She also recorded two rebounds and three assists and had a plus-22 rating. Her presence on the court was palpable in the 32 minutes she played. This was also a career-high minutes total for her.

Even though she only has five games under her belt thus far, Fudd is proving to be a valuable asset to the Wings.

Fudd Isn’t the Only Rookie with a Strong Start

Of course it’s easy to talk about the first overall draft pick in such high regards, but she is not the only player having a strong start to their first WNBA season.

Second overall pick, Olivia Miles, has been dominating the court for the Lynx. The rookie guard has played in all of the Lynx’s games thus far and has even been a starting player for the team.

In the Lynx’s last game, Miles put up 14 points in 33 minutes on the court. She is averaging 15 points per game and 30 minutes. Miles also has double digit points in her last five games, which is the first time a Lynx rookie has achieved this stat since Seimone Augustus back in 2006. 20 years later, and Miles is dominating the court like Augustus.

The Lynx are currently missing some of their star players, notably Napheesa Collier. When Collier is healthy and will be dominating the court at center with Miles at guard, Minnesota will be a lethal team.
