Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr.'s future with the team seems uncertain, as Washington has been actively shopping the fourth-year running back amid the cut deadline.
As a result of the reports, Robinson Jr. was asked to sit out the remaining preseason games in Washington, including Monday Night Football’s contest against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“News like that’s always not easy,” Quinn said about his conversation with Robinson Jr.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Commanders also excused Robinson Jr. from Wednesday’s practice session.
Robinson Jr., 26, was drafted by the Commanders in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama and was entering the final year of his rookie contract. Despite surviving a carjacking attempt before the start of his rookie season, where he sustained a leg injury, the Alabama product has had a productive start to his NFL career, where he has over 700 rushing yards in a season, including setting a career high in yards (799) and rushing touchdowns (8) last season.
The reason why Washington is moving on from Robinson Jr. is due to the emergence of other running backs, including Chris Rodriguez Jr., who is entering his third year in the league, and Jacory Croskey-Merritt, a rookie out of the University of Arizona.
