The Tennessee Titans Could be Set to Have Multiple Position Battles During Training Camp

It was obvious the Titans needed to change their roster after last season’s 3-14 record. The Titans practically brought in half a roster's worth of new players. With all these players come possible new starters, which means these position groups could find themselves in a training camp battle to see who starts in September.

Linebacker

The Linebacker position for the Titans is completely up in the air for the most part, as they have plenty of good pieces. With Cedric Gray having a breakout year, I don’t think there is any second-guessing that he will be a starter; however, the rest of the spots could be filled by anyone.

Cody Barton was the starter last year, but the Titans did draft Anthony Hill Jr. with their second-round pick in the 2026 draft. Not to mention veteran Mohamoud Diabate, whom the Titans acquired from the Browns this offseason, could easily get a spot as well.

Then you also have rookie strong-side linebacker Mani Powell out of Purdue, who is the projected starter at that position as well. Coach Saleh will have to make some tough decisions with this unit moving forward.

Offensive Line

The Titans should have some of their offensive line starters set with JC Latham, Peter Skoronski, and Austin Schlottman. However, their right guard and center positions are currently occupied by Trey Hill and Cordel Volson.

The Titans drafted Pat Coogan in the 7th round of the 2026 draft, and Coogan can play virtually anywhere on the o-line. Not to mention that Dan Moore Jr., who started last year, could also fill one of those spots as well.

The Titans have had a messy time trying to revamp their o-line; Skoronski seems like the only logical draft pick that has done well in a Titans uniform. Latham is inconsistent, and Schlottman is an average lineman.

There should be a ton of different combinations from this o-line this season, till one combo gets it right.

Running Back

This may seem like an odd one, but I think the Titans could have an interesting running back battle this season. Tony Pollard is the obvious starter, but the backup position and third-string position could be anyone's spot.

Tyjae Spears is a solid third-down back, but still has something to prove after missing time last season. The Titans then brought in running backs Nic Singleton and Michael Carter. Singleton was drafted in the 5th round of the 2026 draft.

Singleton is a bigger running back who is solid on the ground and decent in the pass game. Carter is a veteran running back who had a solid season with the Arizona Cardinals last year, both running the ball and being a solid third-down back.

The Titans could use all of these backs at some point this season if they really wanted to, just to give teams different looks and players they aren’t prepared for. The Titans' running back room could have some solid depth headed into the season, and their run game could be a tough one to stop.
