One of the best things the Titans did this offseason was rebuild their lackluster defense from last season. A defense that finished in the bottom five in every category needed to make a lot of changes. After bringing in over 10 new players, most starters and some veterans like Amani Hooker, were more than pleased with how the defense is shaping up.

Hooker is one of the longest tenured Titans, as he was drafted by the team in 2019. Hooker has been a part of some elite defenses, but now has also seen his fair share of rebuilds. Hooker has been excited about the new players the Titans have brought and says fans should be as well.

"I would just say the whole building feels different, the new guys that we have from different teams that came over here, they love ball, and that is contagious," Hooker said. "When someone comes over that loves ball, it makes everyone else want to rise to that challenge and play for the guys next to you, and that's the feeling we have right now."

The Titans are going to surprise many people this year on the defensive end, not only with the players they have acquired, but also with the new coaches and the new approach they will have on the field.

On the other side of the ball, it seems that drafting Carnell Tate may unlock the skill set that QB Cam Ward hasn’t used yet in the NFL. One key aspect of Ward’s game that he has worked on since college is using his legs to extend the play in front of him.

As the year progressed, Ward was excellent at extending plays and getting out of the pocket, which ultimately led to an uptick in the Titans' offensive production. Tate doesn’t need much to get open; his quick first step working off his defender will give Tate more options for Ward.

Standing at 6’3, and with a 40+ inch vertical, Tate could also be the red zone threat that Ward was missing last year. With the new additions that the Titans have made with Wandal’e Robinson and bringing back Calvin Ridley, this opens up a lot of opportunities for Tate.

Tate will seemingly have a mismatch on him at all times, having the third-best corner on the team, on him at all times. This will give him the option to run different routes and generate plays made specifically for him.

The duo of Tate and Ward will be underrated this season, as they are both talented players looking to stay the course and put the Titans back as playoff contenders. For now, we will see what this duo has in store for us with the season right around the corner.
